Skinner Pitches Baseball Bisons Past CBU

SEARCY - Harding senior right-hander Michael Skinner pitched his first career nine-inning complete game and struck out a career-best nine batters to lead the Bisons to a 6-1 Gulf South Conference victory over Christian Brothers on Saturday at Jerry Moore Field.

Harding improved to 18-15 overall and 3-5 in the GSC, while Christian Brothers fell to 13-18 overall and 5-4 in conference play.

The two teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader Sunday at 1 p.m.

Ahead 1-0 in the fourth, Harding plated two when Bo Whitaker tripled in Tyler Thompson before scoring himself on a single by Ryan Moody.

The Bisons moved ahead 6-0 in the fifth, scoring three more runs on five hits. Thompson, Moody and Wisley Correa each drove in runs.

Skinner (3-3) did not allow a hit until the fourth inning. In the sixth, the Bucs scored their only run on an infield single by Joseph Kaminski, who had two of CBU's five hits.

Harding managed 12 hits, all off Christian Brothers starter John Daush (3-6). It was only the second time in the last 11 games with 10 or more hits.

Moody went 3-for-4 in the game, his first three-hit game of the season.
